Sure Start North Northumberland is now covering the Rothbury area, and work with children and families to try and provide what they need in the area. In partnership with Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service and the Mountain Rescue Service. Sure Start shares the new Rothbury Fire Station. The Fire Station has a community room, and outside play area, access to storage and the usual facilities of kitchen and accessible toilets. Children’s Centres are the latest stage of the governments ‘Sure Start’ initiative launched in 1998. They compliment Extended Services developments and lie at the heart of the Governments Every Child Matters Change for Children Programme.
The overall aim of Childrens Centres is to improve outcomes for babies and children in Northumberland.
