Parent Support Partner

                                                           

  • To provide support for parents with children attending schools in the Morpeth Partnership
  • This area of work has a particular emphasis on supporting parents with children who have special educational needs attending Collingwood and Stobhillgate schools

Objectives

  • Work in partnership with parents, consult with parents and help them to identify issues important to them regarding their children’s education
  • Providing information for parents and supporting the induction & transition process
  • Encouraging engagement, active involvement and good communication with schools to support the child’s learning
  • Helping parents to understand aims & expectations of the school
  • Supporting parents to share early concerns
  • Developing parental skills, including self awareness and self esteem
  • Signposting parents to appropriate services
  • Identifying parents to appropriate services
  • Identifying issues affecting children’s attendance or behaviour
  • Supporting parents with parental responsibilities and helping their child to sustain interest in school work

Referral Process/How

  • Individual referral e.g. phone call, meeting, letter, email
  • Team referral e.g CSI (Collingwood School Inclusion) Team
  • Following initial contact referral form will be forwarded to referrer & completed before any visit arranged
  • Weekly meeting with line manager to prioritise referrals and discuss risk assessmen
