The Morpeth and Ponteland FACT Team is an integrated team of professionals who work closely together to support children and families ‘in need’ in the local community.
The Team covers two extended school partnerships, Morpeth and Ponteland and the communities of the feeder schools for the Two High Schools, King Edwards VI and Ponteland Community High School.
There are plans in the future that the Team may be co-located but until then the office bases remain unchanged. The Integrated Team comprises:
The Social Work Team based at 94 Newgate Street Morpeth offer support to ‘children in need’ and those children where there are child protection concerns. The Team has a duty system and are available Monday to Friday 8.30 to 17.00, 16.30 on Friday. Social Workers have been linked to the schools in the Partnerships and can be accessed via schools if needed. There is also a Safeguarding Social Worker attached to the Social Work Team based at Castington Young Offenders Institute. Northumberland County Council operate an ‘out of office’ Emergency Duty Team for times when the district offices are closed.
The Health Visitors and Nursery Nurses can be contacted via their usual bases either with the GP surgeries or Health Centres and continue to offer a range of universal services. They can also offer additional help and support according to the need.
School Health Advisors are part of a wider team of School Nurses whose main base is in Ashington. The School Health Advisor linked to the Morpeth Schools is now working from the Social Work Office and School Health Advisor linked to the Ponteland Schools is based at Ponteland Primary Care Centre.
The Education Welfare Offices for the two areas are based in Hexham Middle School for Ponteland and 94 Newgate Street for the Morpeth partnership. As with all of the different professionals working within the Integrated Team each have there own statutory roles and responsibilities and no changes are planned for how these services are currently delivered. However when a child’s needs are more complex you will see us working very closely together to support families.
